The Canadian Camps Association met directly with the Deputy Director of Policy for the Minister of Jobs and Families. The purpose of this meeting was to formally present the findings from our national snap poll and deliver our briefing package regarding the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program.

In late July, the Canadian Camps Association held a follow-up meeting with senior officials at Finance Canada, including the Director of Policy and a Senior Policy Advisor. This session marked our second major engagement with Finance Canada to address a long-standing inequality in Canada's tax code: the treatment of overnight camp expenses under the Child Care Expense Deduction (CCED).

The Canadian Camps Association has officially published and submitted our proposal for the upcoming federal budget, titled Building Canada Strong for All: The Camp Sector as Essential Infrastructure for Youth, Workforce, and Resilience.

What a difference a year makes! The Canadian Camps Association (CCA) has officially released its 2025 Activities Report, and it is a powerful testament to what happens when our national camp community "paddles in the same direction".

In October, CCA’s leadership, Shauna Joyce, Geoff Park, and Matt Wilfrid undertook an ambitious plan: to travel to Ottawa to advocate in person for our sector to federal leaders on Parliament Hill. 

It was an enormously successful trip, and has helped us to gain even further momentum on federal advocacy priorities that are important for camps across the country - including the Canada Summer Jobs program, tax fairness for camps, and more.
