Position Title: Canadian Camping Association Coordinator
(with potential for advancement to Full-time Director)

Location: Remote

Reporting to: Chair of HR Committee

About Us: The Canadian Camping Association (CCA) is dedicated to promoting excellence in camping and outdoor recreation across Canada. We represent a network of provincial camping associations and strive to unite provincial camp associations, industry leaders and like-minded organizations to elevate and advocate for the Canadian camp sector. As part of our ongoing governance transformation, we seek a proactive and dedicated individual to lead our camp industry relations efforts while contributing to governance initiatives within the organization.

Job Summary: The CCA Coordinator will be responsible for advancing the interests of the Canadian camping industry nationally and internationally. This role includes collecting and leveraging industry data, advocating to government bodies, researching the camp experience, building relationships with national partners, and representing Canadian camps globally. Additionally, the Coordinator will support fundraising efforts to sustain and enhance CCA programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

    Advocacy & Representation:

  • ● Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the camping industry, representing CCA interests to government bodies and stakeholders.
  • Industry Research & Data Analysis:

  • ● Conduct research to understand industry trends, camper demographics, and the economic impact of camping.
  • ● Analyze data to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building:

  • ● Build relationships with national partners, government officials, and industry stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for CCA initiatives
  • Fundraising & Development:

  • ● Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial support for CCA programs and initiatives.
  • ● Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding organizations to expand CCA's resources and impact.
  • Public Relations & Marketing:

  • ● Promote the value of camping and outdoor recreation to the public through marketing campaigns, media outreach, and public relations efforts.
  • Training & Capacity Building:

  • ● Provide training and support to provincial camping associations, enhancing their capacity for advocacy, accreditation, and program development.

Qualifications:

  • ● Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as nonprofit management, outdoor education, or business administration or relevant work experience will be considered.
  • ● Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, advocacy, or related fields.
  • ● Strong understanding of the camping industry and its role in youth development and outdoor education.
  • ● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders.
  • ● Proven track record of successful fundraising and relationship building with members, donors and sponsors.
  • ● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • ● Fluent in English. Bilingualism is an asset.

Job Conditions:

  • ● Part time (20- 25 hours per week) four month contract
  • ● Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications (hourly wage $32-$35)
